Cash Burn Rate

The rate at which a company uses up its cash reserves or cash balance.

Acme has $1M in cash and spends $100K a month. Burn Rate = $1M / $100K/month = 10 months. Acme uses this to plan future funding needs.

Divide the cash reserves by the cash spent over a period, to get the time the company will run out of cash.
